First Nations, Métis and Inuit Urban Education
The Centre for Urban Schooling's Forum on Equity and Social Justice (FESJ):
Honoring and Creating Curriculum with Both Windows and Mirrors
The focus of the evening will be to engage participants in a panel discussion and smaller circles about issues related to First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities and urban education, and the possibiliites of traditional ways of knowing for both Aboriginal and Non-Aboriginal people.
A critical discussion about Aboriginal education in urban centres is both necessary and timely: November 21 – 27, 2010 is Indigenous Sovereignty Week, November is Aboriginal Education Month at the TDSB, and 2010 is the Year of the Métis Nation.
This forum is co-sponsored by The Centre for Urban Schooling, (OISE/UT), the Aboriginal Education Centre (TDSB), the Model Schools for Inner Cities (TDSB), and the Faculty of Education at York University.
There will also be a disiplay of books for sale courtesy of Jeff Burnham - GoodMinds.com
